What is the course about?
Python is a high-level programming language used in numerous instances.
Since it is one of the basics that a Data Scientist should know, we offer this course to everyone who is interested in Data Science or wants to use in other fields and projects.

What is in the program?
The course will take place on 4 - 6 June 2021 (the first weekend of summer) and will guide you through the basic and intermediate Python implementation skills and packages.
For example, you will learn how to implement strings and loops and how to deploy Numpy and Pandas.

Who is teaching the course?
The Python course will be taught by Festo Owiny, a computer and data scientist with years of theoretical and practical experience with Python.
Besides, he is one of our Asigmo Fellows, who completed our Asigmo Data Science Training Program and successfully continued his journey in Natural Language Processing!
Am I eligible for this course?
If you find yourself on this webpage, you are for sure eligible to take part!
The course starts from the basics and is targeted to those who have no prior knowledge of Python.
(Knowledge of other programming languages or algorithms is always welcome, but completely unnecessary for this course)
Why is this course for free?
We offer this Python course as a preparation for our Data Science Training Program. It is free for you too, even if you do not participate in the Data Science Training Program.
We aspire to support everyone, who wants to learn how to program or even become a Data Scientist!
What is the Applicant Selection Process?
Although everyone can apply to this course, we ultimately have designed it for people who want to pursue a career in Data Science but lack the necessary Python skills to begin with.
We therefore prioritise those applicants who have applied to Asigmo Data Science Training Program or can demonstrate a strong interest in or exposure to Data Science.
After the deadline on 22 May, the applicants will be reviewed internally by Asigmo Team and Festo Owiny, and 20 shortlisted applicants will be notified.
However, we will include everyone in a waitlist, so even if you do not get into the top 20, you will still have a chance!
How do I increase my chances to get selected?
If you want to raise your chance of getting a place at our Python Course, make sure to include a short description of your background, status and future career plans.
Your CV could also help us to learn a bit more about your aspirations and inspirations, but it is not required to submit.
