With the Covid-19 pandemic in full swing and countries imposing harsh restrictions again, ASIGMO has decided to make our newest Data Science Bootcamp online for the 2nd time. After going through our community’s feedback, we have decided to implement a new feature into our bootcamp - the part-time study method.
The purpose of this short blog is to address the pros of such a feature. After reading our views, we are sure that you will be able to see that part-time study could, in fact, have more benefits than initially thought.
One of the biggest pros is the flexibility of part-time study. It enables students from different backgrounds to attend the lectures while keeping their life organized without requiring changing their plans - one is still able to continue their university education, work, or anything else without having to put it on hold. By closely communicating with the ASIGMO team and our instructors, the schedule will be highly customizable, benefiting those who have less time during the day than the rest and making sure that everyone who is accepted into our program can attend when they are available.
Part-time study will bring people from more diverse backgrounds into our community, enabling a better exchange of experiences from different fields during networking opportunities. In this way, someone who is pursuing their master’s degree at a university can learn something from someone who is already employed as a data scientist, as they will both take part in the same program simultaneously. That is why networking between our fellows is highly encouraged to get the most out of the bootcamp.
With people being able to join after ending their daily activities, there is an obvious benefit to one’s financial stand. A person will no longer be expected to put their job on hold to take part in our bootcamp, resulting in our courses being a much lesser financial burden than in the case of a full-time study method. By decreasing your financial stress, it will be easier for you to focus on upgrading your skills and making a meaningful career choice while being able to maintain yourself financially.
Based on our experiences, employers appreciate it when an applicant demonstrates full devotion to their area of interest. By being able to show in your curriculum vitae that you can handle multiple tasks at once, such as working and studying at the same time, you will be able to show just that. This will make your CV more attractive and will serve as an overall career advancement, which is a big plus in today's competitive work environment.
